An Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) is a State environmental review document that evaluates whether a project will have the potential for significant environmental impacts. The EAW describes the proposed project, provides permit information, informs the public about the project, and identifies the potential impacts and mitigation needs of the project.
The EAW is not meant to approve or deny a project but instead act as a source of information to guide other approvals and permitting decisions. An EAW is required when a project meets the thresholds described in Minnesota State Statute or a discretionary EAW may be ordered by City Council. A discretionary EAW may be ordered if the project may have potential environmental effects, the project proposer wishes to determine if the project has potential significant environmental impacts, or in response to a citizen petition. Information provided in the EAW is used to determine if an Environmental Impact Statement is necessary.
