Community Assistance Specialist
Community Assistance Specialist - Jess
The Dayton Police Department is committed to our residents beyond just law enforcement. We are proud to offer the services of a Community Assistance Specialist-Jess, specifically dedicated to assisting with non-criminal needs. Whether your family is navigating a behavioral health crisis, a domestic dispute, or simply needs help finding local food, housing, or counseling resources, Jess provides a compassionate "bridge" to support. The Community Assistance Specialist position was created to strengthen our community and ensure that every resident, especially our most vulnerable, has access and assistance finding available resources.
How a Community Assistance Specialist can help you:
- Crisis Intervention: Providing immediate de-escalation and emotional support during high-stress family or mental health situations.
- Resource Connection: Helping you navigate complex systems to find local housing, medical care, substance abuse treatment, or employment assistance.
- Follow-up Support: Checking in after a call to ensure your family has successfully connected with the services they need for long-term stability.
- Vulnerable Population Advocacy: Specializing in the unique needs of children, the elderly, and those facing poverty or trauma.
