Parks, Trails & City Property
The City of Dayton manages trees in city parks, trails and City property. City work includes trimming, planting, removal and treatment.
Right-of-Way Trees
Right-of-way trees are owned by property owners; however, they are managed by the City of Dayton when they pose a risk to streets and sidewalks.
- Trimming to clear sightlines and prevent conflict with traffic
- Removing hazardous trees affecting streets
Private Property Trees
Property owners are responsible for maintenance and removal on their private property which pose a risk to streets, trails, or neighbors.
- Identify your property lines
- Talk with your neighbors regarding solutions. If you need additional assistance, the Community Mediation & Restorative Services, Inc is a Minnesota-based nonprofit that provides low to no cost conflict resolutions services in Hennepin County.
Diseased Trees
The City of Dayton monitors and manages trees impacted by disease and pests including Dutch Elm Disease, Oak Wilt, Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). The City provides consultation to help diagnose if a tree has been impacted. If you suspect your tree is affected, please fill out the contact form below.
