Turf & Grounds Maintenance
The City of Dayton’s Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining turf and landscaped areas across City-owned parks, trails, recreational spaces, and athletic fields. Maintenance activities include:
- Mowing
- Snow removal
- Weed control
- Fertilizing and seeding
- Tree care
- Flower bed maintenance
- Aeration and irrigation
Park Facility Maintenance
The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of park infrastructure and amenities throughout the City. This includes playground equipment, pavilions, picnic tables, benches, bleachers, and other park furnishings.
These efforts ensure that all park facilities remain safe, functional, and enjoyable for residents and visitors alike.
Athletic Field Preparation
The Public Works Department is responsible for preparing and maintaining the City’s athletic fields. This includes dragging and chalking baseball fields and painting field lines for various sports to ensure they are safe, well-marked, and ready for play.
Ice Rink Maintenance
The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of two ice rinks within the City of Dayton: a permanent rink at Central Park and a seasonal, temporary rink at Sundance Woods Park.
Maintenance activities include site preparation, ice making, snow removal, and ice surfacing to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for skaters throughout the winter season.
